The Kumon Method

Individualized Instruction
Kumon offers individualized instruction to help each child develop his or her ability to the maximum.
Children’s level of ability varies depending on their natural aptitude and the environment in which they are raised. If students study the same content just because they were the same age, some children could lose confidence because the material was too difficult, while others could become bored because it was too easy. So it is important that every student is provided with material that is best suited to their academic ability.
Throughout their time with Kum Instructors provide students with material suitable for their ability level while taking into consideration their degree of mastery of the content .

Self Learning
At Kumon, Instructors do not teach students in a uniform manner. Instead, students carefully read the explanations on our worksheets and try doing the exercises on their own.
When each child is given worksheets appropriate to his or her ability, concentration can be improved by doing a certain number of worksheets in one sitting. Students feel a sense of achievement, which motivates them to keep progressing to more advanced worksheets. When students get stuck in certain areas of the worksheets, or take a long time to complete their study, they repeat as necessary, which helps them to master the content and move on to the next step.

Kumon Instructors
The Kumon worksheets are designed to allow students to advance by self-learning. Nonetheless, there are times when students encounter problems that they don’t understand or are unable to solve on their own.
At times like these, Kumon Instructors do not immediately give students the answers to problems. Rather, our Instructors find out how much the students understand before giving them hints. Instructors may also show students example problems or previously studied material to help them solve difficult problems on their own.
Kumon Instructors do not spoon-feed students problem-solving methods. Instead, Instructors focus on guiding students to complete exercises on their own so that they enjoy a sense of achievement and are able to master new material independently.

The Journey of
BRAC with Kumon
The Kumon method arrived in Bangladesh through the Brac-Kumon initiative. BRAC Kumon started their expedition in Bangladesh in September 2017. The very first Kumon Centre was inaugurated in Dhanmondi, with a subsequent center opening in Uttara in the month of October. Both the centers provide international standard education to students and offer Math and English as a Foreign Language (EFL) program to children aged 4 to 14.
